Has my musical taste changed or has mainstream hip-hop really declined?

I listened to a lot of mainstream hip-hop and rap all through the 90s up until about the time Nelly came out with his Country Grammar album. It seems like since then, more now then ever, the stuff that comes on the radio is just god awful. As Dead Prez said in a song... "I'm sick of that fake thug R&B rap scenario all day on the radio, same scenes in the videos, monotonous material."
