The Maverick 88 VS The Mossberg 500?

Im looking at these two shotguns for HD. For the Maverick it would be the 20'' 8 shot. The Mossberg the 20'' 8 shot persuader. Is there are huge difference other than the safety? I know The Maverick isn't drilled a tapped for a side saddle, how much would it cost to have that done? I will be putting a Knoxx recoil reducing stock on whichever i choose. The Maverick is 100 dollars cheaper, is the Mossberg worth the extra cash?
