Why are some people under the delusion that the stock market will never crash again?

What makes people think that the stock market cannot ever crash again? What makes them think it cannot go under just like the Titanic? With the soaring gas prices and things like that, it is even more realistic! In my opinion, we really need some alternatives! And I'm all for environmentally friendly energy. How long do you think it will be before we can start driving hydrogen powered cars, ect.?
